Only through your dedicated hours of practice can one understand and convey the teaching of yoga towards others. If you are already teaching yoga, the completion of this course will enrich, inspire, awaken your teaching skills immensely to many new discoveries, inquiries, explorations and knowledge. This yoga teacher training course is based on the Ashtanga Primary Series. The traditional sequencing approach is combined with Christina's professional nursing background to meld yoga theory with health and wellness. The practice of the Ashtanga Primary series is emphasize to build a strong foundation, deepen your understanding of functional anatomy, breath work, and energetic elements within each pose as it has been practiced many centuries ago for healing and therapeutic benefits. Drawing upon this strong foundation, you will experiment, explore, discover and experience a moving meditation known as Vinyasa-class, harnessing your creativity and inner voice. By the end of the course, with your continued practice and study, you will be able to confidently begin a new journey sharing yoga practice from what you personally have learned and experienced suitable for all levels and offer modifications for students with conditions, injuries, or physical limitations. Having this teaching training course begins your experience, growth, development, practice, knowledge to teachership, mentorship, and apprenticeship. There are many styles and forms of yoga today that this course will greatly benefit you in sharing your training to teach at those studios.
This program however , You may earn your RYT200 hr upon request to register yourself to Yoga alliance. Please bear in mind this school is registered as E-RYT, RYT 200hr, RYS upholding the highest standard of the practice of yoga beyond 200 hours. You will find great appreciation for how this course is well-rounded, structured for excellence in practice and teaching, and deeply rooted on the authentic traditional principles, foundations, theory, philosophy, methodology of the practice of classical yoga. The word Ashtanga means “eight limbs,” and signifies the eight components integral to the practice of yoga as described in the Yoga Sutras. Ashtanga Vinyasa denotes the system of yoga popularized by Sri Pattabhi Jois in the mid 1900s, which combines all eight limbs of yoga into a dynamic, vitalizing, and enlightening practice.
Please bare in mind, this 14 days will be a intensive, rigorous 200-hour Ashtanga yoga emphasis teacher training course on primary series providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the eight-limbs, or the eight-fold-path of yoga. You will study the ancient practices of yoga from an historical and experiential perspective, delving deeply into the practice of half and full primary series of Ashtanga by developing a daily routine dinacharya of yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, and dharana.
This teacher course emphasizes the use of hands-on adjustments, recognizing them to be safe, appropriate instrument in opening the body and mind to the benefits of the practice. Therefore, the program taught is designed and dedicated in this direction.
Students will leave after having completed above and beyond the minimum 200 hours of training, feeling confident while leading a guided as well as Mysore-style class for the experience and knowledge you have gained giving postural adjustments in the primary series of the practice and speaking on topics in yoga such as anatomy and physiology, diet, cleansing and philosophy.

Requirements for participation:
Because of the rigor involved in this training program, as well as the sincere intention to transmit yoga authentically, it is required that the new students first year to this Shala's program completes an application that includes a paragraph describing their motivations for attending the course. The teacher training program is limited to only 6 participants.
Participants should already maintain a certain level of yoga physical and mental discipline. it is important that participants enter with a yearning to learn, especially through the frameworks of practice and self study.
Shala Santosha Yoga is a certified yoga teacher training school with Yoga Alliance, RYS. Upon successful completion of the requirements required by this 200-hour program, students will receive a certificate of completion and will be able to register officially with Yoga Alliance. Post completion, student can register for Intermediate Series training after 1-3 years of apprenticeship, mentorship or active teaching.
This 200hr training course is broken down into three separate modules, each approximately one week long. The titles indicated emphasizes each week. However, asana, meditation, and philosophy practice will be included in every week's program.
Week 1: Getting to know you and your practice
The goal of the first week is to learn the practice of the Ashtanga Vinyasa primary series. The focus will be on refining , introducing the sequencing and importance of breath of the Ashtanga primary series. For each asana, you will learn its important alignments, permitted modifications, and conditions under which it should not be practiced. By the end of the course, you should be able to practice without being guided, the ‘Mysore Style-Self Independent Practice"
You will also study the fundamentals of yoga philosophy. This course will be less intensive than subsequent weeks and includes more free time for discovering the surrounding natural paradise of Maui.

Week 2: Breath Work, Ujjayi, Pranayama, anatomy and adjustments I
the second week of the training, your asana practice will all be in silent Mysore Style. You will also begin learning pranayama breath work , 4 purification breath and ujjayi and how to adjust asanas ‘hands-on’. The talks will focus on anatomy as it relates to yoga. You will also revisit the yoga philosophy of the first week and learn the principle of yoga’s sister science, Ayurveda.

Examination of Practice and Study:
The last day will involve an examination of what you have learnt in weeks 1 and 2, essential for proceeding to week 3 of the teacher training.
Adjustments II, teaching methodology and yoga philosophy and on teaching practice. On one morning, you will be responsible for helping with adjustments in the Mysore session and on one afternoon you will lead a guided class. You will also learn the more complicated adjustments and continue your study of yoga philosophy how it relates to day to day life off the mat. You will go deeper into finer aspects of yoga philosophy.
